Promoting Cultural Expression

The aim of Tishreen’s cultural program is to promote local art and culture since its establishment in 2008, Tishreen worked to create a cultural movement in the region, stemming from the city of Taybeh where the association was born. Throughout the years, Tishreen has contributed to a vibrant local cultural scene through cultural events in the realms of theater, cinema, plastic arts, literature, and poetry.

For this purpose, Tishreen has built a special model, divided into 3 pillars, to promote cultural expression: 1. The Alternative Space: the space was established in 2018 as an incubator and home for inspiration, free thought and independent artistic creation. The space is also an opportunity to meet other artists and activists, allowing for dialogue, joint learning and networking. 2. The Cultural Forum: The Forum includes young artists from various fields of visual and performance arts who gather together to lead local cultural production. The Forum provides an opportunity to participate in various workshops, to widen horizons on locally relevant social and political topics, to develop individual artistic aspirations, as well as to produce creative projects to be presented in public events such as periodic exhibitions. 3. Working with the public: to foster social and cultural discourse, and to promote access to culture in the region, Tishreen organizes artistic and cultural evenings in the Alternative Space, open to the general public of the Triangle. We at Tishreen attach great importance to the inclusion of young artists in the region’s cultural and artistic scene. Moreover, we try to ensure that artistic productions, exhibitions, and screenings are within the reach of the broad local audience.
