We were delighted to seen the Alternative Space filled with eager viewers. This will encourage us at Tishreen to continue to provide affordable cultural content for the Triangle’s residents, offering inspiration and enrichment to the public at large and the younger generations in particular.
“It Must Be Heaven” is a satiric comedy about a man who leaves Palestine in search of an alternative homeland and a new beginning, only to encounter the same problems he had back home. The protagonist (Suleiman) first arrives in Paris, where he witnesses the police chasing Arabs and non-Arabs, people living in poverty, tanks and aircrafts parading. He then moves to New York, where he discovers a state of madness. The film is said to be autobiographic and yet it tells the story of many Palestinians who are trapped in a reality that pushes them to despair or insanity, while their only resistance takes form mainly in their mocking of their own suffering.
