The concept of” Place Making “ is very recent, as it began as a reaction to the ideas of the modern planning movement. The concept of creating a place is “an idea and a practical approach to redesigning and planning public spaces to reflect the needs of the society ” in a way that strengthens the connection between the people in General and residents of Taybeh with the places they share, especially in the Old City.
This project comes at the initiative of the Alternative Planning Center and Tishreen Association to comprehensively apply the concept of “Making the Palestinian Place”. The process has been defined as “a participatory process from the bottom up to create, improve and manage places based on the human being perspectives and the unique and collective identity, thus attracting people and residents and enhancing their national interaction.” The social and emotional attachment to the place, as well as the national and historical connection to these places were sensed in the tour that has been conducted last week with Architechts from Taybeh, the Arab Alternative Planning Center, and highly qualified women leaders from Taybeh.
