Women in the Triangle make up half of the region’s population, but their contribution to household income and to economic development remains limited. In May 2015, in partnership with NA’AMAT (Movement of Working Women), and Women Against Violence, Tishreen launched the project ‘Economic Empowerment of Women - Women and Work’ with the aim to increase the economic participation and household income Arab women. Through mentoring and soft skill training, we seek to increase the percentage of women participating in the workforce and contribute to their successful integration in quality jobs.
One hundred hours of coaching and training were carried out by experienced professionals and social workers. The training focused on soft skills and tools that carry the potential increase employability and assist women in entering the job market. These included Hebrew literacy, computer literacy, and other technical skills.
After completing the training, the participants were accompanied by an experienced social worker who assisted in searching for jobs and integrating into a new workplace.
