Movie Screening: Wajib at The Alternative Space
April 29, 2018On the occasion of the commemoration of Palestinian Land Day, The Wanted 18 by Palestinian director Amer Shomali was screened at the Alternative Space in front of a large audience, which then proceeded to discuss its importance in terms of raising awareness, especially in the context of this significant day.
The film is based on a true story of the solidarity of the residents of Beit Sahour during the first Palestinian Intifada, their attempt to achieve economic independence through civil disobedience, boycotting Israeli products and establishing an alternative economy based on 18 cows for dairy products, which were labeled a security threat to the colonial state.
The discussion touched on the sacrifice of our people in Gaza and its relation to resisting intellectual and mental colonialism within a framework such as the Forum of Culture Production – Tishreen.
